Where would someone with a Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting get a job investigating financial fraud? I know the FBI, SEC, FTC, etc, but what about private industries? Security firms? Banks? Insurance Companies? Where is a good place to find an entry level position?

Many corporations and government entities have an internal auditing function and a separate fraud investigation function either as a subunit of internal auditing or security or as a separate unit within the organization. In addition, many accounting and consulting firms have a forensic, investigation, and litigation support services.
The financial forensic investigation techniques and procedures used within an organization (in-house) or from a professional contracted service firm can come about in different ways. For example, some forensic techniques for analyzing financial statements are common for financial auditors, fraud auditors, or forensic accountants and investigators. Other techniques, such as using behavior detection methods and interviewing methods, are primarily used in specific fraud investigation engagements.
Please post an answer to the following questions. Support your answers with academic or real-life criminal justice examples to accentuate your point. Also, you must provide at least 1 feedback post to one of your classmates.
•Research and locate a company who was audited by an outside source and explain the method, technique, and findings of an audit.
•Do you think that it is a wise investment to contract services that provide security against fraud or should it be an in-house department that provides fraud security services?
•Include additional information that you think is appropriate or interesting concerning ethical or unethical business behavior.

I interned at a local Law Firm. I did a lot of research for the attorney. I plan on becoming a lawyer.
My grandmother is currently in foreclosure and she’s trying to do a loan moddification via her loan company saxon mortgage, and if we are approved for the loan moddification, we need to pay ,500-3,000 toward our escrow and pay lawyers fee’s(or most of lawyers fee’s). then we can have our interest rate lowered, as well as our payment. and whatever payments that we are behind as of now, will be placed at the end of our loan….and no more FORECLOSURE!!!…… We also have an option to go with a forclosure lawyer, here’s the email the lawyer sent me:
Robert,
Nice speaking with you today. As we discussed, the Foreclosure Defense Law Center specializes in stopping foreclosure and modifying your loan. We are a law firm with a team of loss mitigation negotiators and loan modification attorneys. (www.foreclosuredefenselawcenter.us)
The first step in the loan modification process is for our legal team to review your information to determine if we can help you in your situation. Also, if you have a copy of your original loan documents (RESPA/TIL), we can conduct a forensic audit to see if you were a victim of any predatory lending. If these documents are available, please fax back to us at fax #786 345-5809.
My contact information is toll free #888 572-8387 x323, or email jhopkins@foreclosuredefenselawcenter.us.

They require a ,000 retainer but they say that they will hold the money in an escrow account until the 45 day loan moddification is finished between the attorney and Saxon, they claim that they can 100% take care of the whole process and make sure that we won’t have to pay the up front costs to Saxon and get our loan current and fixxed. The say that the process is 45 days and would freeze our forclosure so we would not be evicted and they will solve our problems……….Help please with advice!!!!!
Barack Obama is pouring billions more down those sinkholes. It isn’t just the camel’s back that’s broken. His neck and four legs have all snapped, too.
Enough. While they take to the streets politically, untold numbers of America’s wealth producers are going on strike financially. Dr. Helen Smith, a Tennessee forensic psychologist and political blogger, dubbed the phenomenon "Going Galt" last fall. It’s a reference to the famed Ayn Rand novel "Atlas Shrugged," in which protagonist John Galt leads the entrepreneurial class to cease productive activities in order to starve the government of revenue. (Not coincidentally, Rand’s novel sales are up and John Galt references punctuated many of the Tea Party demonstrations.) Dr. Smith was inundated with stories like these:
"I have frozen hiring in my firm. ? No investments will be made in taxable accounts — only 401k/IRAs. I am buying silver and gold instead of CDs or stocks with non-qualified money and savings. I have stopped taking new clients, thus freezing my income. I barter more and more. Spend less. I stopped leveraging assets (don’t borrow)."
"I have cut WAY back — I’m no longer buying retail, driving out of a 10-mile radius, spending money on eating out or putting my money in a savings account. I am using the money to pay off all of our debt. It has made our family closer, more appreciative."
Another blogger wrote: "Last year my family paid nearly ,000 a month in federal taxes, and we are not by any stretch of the imagination rich. I’m going to make it my business to cut that amount in half, using every legal means possible and reducing my income so there is less to tax."
Enough. Those business owners are not alone. This week, ABC News spotlighted upper-income earners going Galt in response to Obama’s proposed tax hikes on families with incomes of 0,000 or more. A Lafayette, La., attorney told the reporter she was cutting back on her business to avoid the tax threshold: "Why kill yourself working if you’re going to give it all away to people who aren’t working as hard?" Tax hikes have consequences. Incentives matter. Only self-deluded wealth redistributors living in la-la land believe otherwise.
Another business owner, Dr. Sharon Poczatek, explained: "The motivation for a lot of people like me — dentists, entrepreneurs, lawyers — is that the more you work the more money you make," said Poczatek. "But if I’m going to be working just to give it back to the government — it’s de-motivating and demoralizing."
The perpetual Borrow-Spend-Panic-Repeat machine in Washington depends on the capitulation of the wealth producers. There’s only one monkey wrench that can stop the redistributionist thieves’ engine. It’s engraved with the word: Enough.

I scored a 224 (2240) on my PSAT (highest in my grade, I think), no studying. 2150 SAT, 1430 composite, no studying, morning after Halloween (bad idea to go out, I know). I know if I study vocab, I can get a 2250 at least, with probably around 1540 composite (an 800 in math would be very possible). I am a junior in a huge high school (over 4000). Will have played soccer all four years, varsity last two. I build and wire my own guitars, amps, and speaker cabs, among building other things. I have performed publicly at multiple venues. I take all IB classes and soccer. Will be in Chem 3, Physics, English 4, Comp Sci 2, Economics, Calculus, all IB, senior year. Worked in a warehouse last summer, and will sort of run a small division of a CPA firm this summer, like forensic accounting + clerical stuff. I had a pretty traumatic event involving one of my parents (around 3rd grade) that affected my childhood. I might not be in the top 10 percent of my class, though (4.222 GPA is right on the line). I will not get the IB diploma, but will take 7 IB tests, more than necessary. There is a stupidly high level of bureaucracy at my school involving IB, so by taking IB Economics (because I want to) instead of a blow-off class, I am not eligible for the diploma. I am expecting to be a National Merit Scholar, also. Sorry if I sound like a total ass, I was just saying everything that I think may matter.
So, what sort of colleges can I get in to? University of Chicago, Columbia, Caltech, University of Washington St. Louis, University of California-Berkeley, and Rice are some of my favorites.
I need help with my statement of intent for my college application. Does this sound okay. Could you tell me if I made any grammatical errors? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!
What are the core skills and knowledge you hope to acquire by completing a degree in this major and how do you plan to apply these when you graduate?
The knowledge I hope to attain by completing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the University of Florida is a complete understanding in the field of accounting. I also hope to absolutely understand how to apply this knowledge in the real world. The core skills I hope to acquire are the arts of analyzing, interpreting, and communicating financial information. While completing my studies at the University of Florida I plan to do an internship with an accounting firm in order to accumulate work experience and master my craft. After achieving my Bachelor of Science degree I hope to continue my studies at the Fisher School of Accounting and receive my Masters in Accounting. When I have completed, my studies I aspire to become a Certified Public Accountant. Following my certification as a public accountant, I hope to be hired by one of the four major accounting firms and specialize in forensic accountancy.
Please provide any other information about yourself that you feel will help this college make an admission decision. This may include work, research, volunteer activities or other experiences pertaining to the degree program.
As my academic history shows, I am extremely dedicated to my studies. In my Junior year of high school, I became a home schooled student through the Florida Virtual School program. Since starting the program in May of 2007, I have gone to school non stop. Although I received my high school education through the Florida Virtual School program, my original high school was gracious enough to let me graduate with the rest of my class. The FLVS program takes a large amount of hard work and dedication to complete because it is a self teaching system. If you are not motivated to do the work and learn, you will not pass. I think the fact that I complete high school though FLVS is a testament to how dedicated I am to learning. While completing high school through Florida Virtual School, I also participated in the dual enrollment program. Through this program I was able to graduate high school with six credit hours of college already completed. While on small breaks between semesters, I cleaned houses and pet sat as a way to gain some income and keep myself busy. I am also a note taker with the Office of Students with Disabilities. I assist a woman with a visual impairment in my Composition II class. Recently, I have become a member of Phi Theta Kappa and I am looking forward to helping my community through this organization. Getting an education is the most important thing in my life, everything else is secondary. If excepted into your institution, I would apply my entire self and work as hard as I could to live up to the prestige that surrounds the University of Florida. I sincerely thank you for reviewing and considering my application.
thank you for the help ownpool!
Thank you very much Romel!
I need someone to review my statements of intent for my college application. Here is the first one:
What are the core skills and knowledge you hope to acquire by completing a degree in this major and how do you plan to apply these when you graduate?

Here is the second one. I am unsure if I even answered this one right:
Please provide any other information about yourself that you feel will help this college make an admission decision. This may include work, research, volunteer activities or other experiences pertaining to the degree program.
I sincerely thank you for reviewing and considering my application. Although I do not have much work experience, it is not because I am an indolent person. My parents and I decided, when I was still in high school, that it was more important for me to work hard in school alone, then to try to juggle school with a job. I am so grateful to my parents for taking care of me and allowing me to pour all of myself into my school work. Getting an education is the most important thing in my life, everything else is secondary. If excepted by your institution, I would apply my entire self and work as hard as I could to live up to the prestige that surrounds the University of Florida.
If you have any suggestions or see any spelling/grammatical errors please bring them to my attention. What should I add, what should I delete? Also, do you think I answered the second one the right way?
Thank you so much for helping!
Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately, I am extremely shy and didn’t participate in any school activities. What should I put!? Oh no.
I am writing a book where a forensic accountant is brought into an accounting firm to investigate a stealing employee. Is there a plausible way that an accountant could embezzle from a large firm for a year or so without getting caught? What would be the most easy way?
I should add that the accountant actually works for an accounting firm.
